Easy DIY Mirror Update for Halloween Art!

Last year I picked up this really ornate mirror from a yard sale for $2. I didn’t know what to do with it so it has just been sitting in the closet since then.

I had the idea to turn it into some art for Halloween. I went over to Etsy and bought this digital file of Van Gogh’s Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1270872166/van-gogh-print-skull-of-a-skeleton-with?ref=yr_purchases and then got the file printed at my local Walgreens for $3.23.

I didn’t want to ruin the mirror part, so all I did was trim the 5×7 print slightly so that it was able to slide over the mirror but under the frame. This way it’s not permanent, and I can repeat the process for Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays! Here is how it turned out:

Materials:
Frame: $2
Digital File: $2.90
Print: $3.23

Total cost: $8.13

Overall, this was a very affordable and effective DIY. Next time you see a nice frame at your thrift or yard sales, or maybe if you just have one laying around, try this out and let me know how it looks!

About Me

Hi! I’m Jenna. I created this site as a fun place to share some of my thrift finds and makeovers because thrift stores, yard sales, and consignment shops are some of my favorite places to go. You never know what you’ll find. I love finding ways to incorporate old things with new decor. It is both good for the planet and also adds charm. Make yourself at home!
